Penske is a Proud Supporter of the 38th Annual National Veterans Wheelchair Games
July 30, 2018
CommentThis year, Penske Truck Rental is a Sustaining Sponsor of the National Veterans Wheelchair Games (NVWG), presented by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA).
The 38th annual event kicks off today at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, where Penske has a booth set up to interact with veterans and their families from all over the U.S.
“We are thrilled to continue our sponsorship with the National Veterans Wheelchair Games this year,” said Kevin Kleckner (right), Penske’s director of national consumer sales and programs.
“Being involved in this event is a huge honor. We always look forward to speaking with and showing our support to these veterans,” he added.
Throughout the week, veterans will compete in events like archery, bowling, quad rugby, softball, swimming and table tennis. According to the NVWG’s website, “the Games serve veterans with spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, amputations and other central neurological impairments with the goal to increase their independence, healthy activity and quality of life through wheelchair sports and recreation.”
Over the past five years, Penske Truck Rental has been conducting a year-round fundraising effort called #OneWay4PVA to help benefit PVA’s Mission: ABLE initiative. The fundraising effort has helped raise $2.2 million. Penske’s support toward military personnel doesn’t stop there. G.I. Jobs magazine also honored the company with a 2018 Military-Friendly Employers Silver Awards designation earlier this year for its commitment to recruiting and supporting veterans.
