Penske Appeals to Supreme Court Over Truck Driver Rules

Today, Penske Logistics filed a petition seeking to have the United States Supreme Court review the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals decision in the matter of Dilts et al. v. Penske Logistics LLC and Penske Truck Leasing Co., L.P.

The crux of the case is whether a long-standing federal transportation law that seeks to promote lower rates and better service by ensuring that rates and services are determined by competitive market forces rather than a patchwork of varying state laws preempts California’s state laws requiring mandatory meal and rest breaks. Logistics Outlook Strong for 2014

While 2013 was more of the same, the data for 2014 indicate a more bullish outlook as the sector is showing its strongest freight performance since 2009.
