Penske Named Inbound Logistics 75 Green Supply Chain Partner

Inbound Logistics magazine has placed Penske Logistics on this year’s 75 Green Supply Chain Partner list for its environmentally-conscious best practices. According to the publication, it is “showcasing companies that demonstrate green best practices in their supply chain, logistics and transportation operations.”

Magazine editors used four benchmarks to determine the G75: measurable green results, sustainability innovation, continuous improvements and industry recognition.

Among the reasons that Penske is part of the Inbound Logistics Green 75:

  • Advises customers on the merits of incorporating CNG tractors into their fleets
  • Assists customers with alternative-fueled options, which includes natural gas, propane, electric and diesel-electric hybrids, leading to a third straight Affiliate Challenge Award from the U.S. EPA’s SmartWay program
  • Eighty-five percent of the company’s transportation management service network is comprised of carriers that are EPA SmartWay program participants
  • Conducts an annual GHG emission inventory and supports renewable energy generation and solid waste reduction

“Our company is continuing to make a concerted effort to reduce our own carbon footprint, as well as our customers' footprint,” said Mike Costanza, Penske director of environmental services. ”We appreciate that the Inbound Logistics magazine editorial team is recognizing our efforts.”
