Penske Truck Leasing Receives ASE Re-Certification

Penske Truck Leasing has once again been certified by the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) for its industry-leading Continuing Automotive Service Excellence Education (CASE) program. When Penske attained this certification in 2008, it was the first in its industry to do so.

Penske offers to its 5,400 maintenance associates nearly 40 hours annually of mandatory training, and opportunities to advance technician levels via a voluntary Technician Certification Program (TCP).

“We provide training that focuses on preventive maintenance, technical and diagnostic skills, and the customer experience,” explained Holly Gerke, the company’s technical training manager. “Our associates receive instruction through self-paced hard copy and online activities, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) instructor led classes and courses focusing on our company’s internal maintenance procedures.”

As Gerke noted, several hundred Penske maintenance techs have completed the TCP, and as a result, advanced through several different levels from customer service representative to technician III, tech III to tech II, and ultimately to the technician I level.

“In our continuous quest to provide superior customer satisfaction we understand the importance of keeping current with new technologies and enhancing the skills of our technicians,” stated Mike Hasinec, Penske vice president of maintenance systems and support. “Our TCP has been a great addition to our existing technical training program and it provides our technicians a formalized career path.”

Penske’s fleet exceeds 210,000 vehicles. Jonathan Hester and other Penske technicians discussed their TCP experiences in a March 2011 “Move Ahead” blog post.
