Penske Opens Collision Repair Center in Annapolis Junction, Md.

Penske Truck Leasing has now opened its 17th North American truck collision repair center, in Annapolis Junction, Md.

There are 15 U.S. locations: East Hartford, Conn; Fort Wayne, Ind.; Garland, Texas; Greensboro, N.C.; Houston; Indianapolis; Lithia Springs, Ga.; Milwaukee; Norcross, Ga.; Phoenix; Poplar Bluff, Mo.; Reading, Pa.; Tampa, Fla.; Toledo, Ohio; and Woodland, Calif. A center is also located in Canada, in Burlington, Ontario.

These truck collision repair centers can do: repair warranty work; computerized brand color matching; refinishing and customized repairs, including decals and graphics; and mechanical repairs.

In 2011, Penske collision repair centers handled over 21,500 repairs.

“By retaining these repairs, we’re able to keep these dollars in-house,” stated James Svaasand, Penske’s business ventures general manager. “We are also able to provide consistent service and professionalism, using advanced systems.”

In the interim, customers can also access temporary replacement vehicles via Penske Truck Rental.

“The Annapolis Junction facility serves the needs of Penske’s own truck fleet and contract customers, as well as commercial truck fleets,” Svaasand noted.

The 15,500-square-foot building is housed on 5.2 acres and utilizes light fixtures that reduce energy use by 50 percent.

The structure contains a high-efficiency paint spray booth that greatly filters emissions. This booth employs smart technology that minimizes energy and fuel consumption, housing a high-tech air filtration system.

“Prior to opening this Annapolis Junction collision repair center, Penske vehicles, and our customer’s vehicles, were being serviced from our repair centers in Pennsylvania and North Carolina,” said Jack Gallagher, senior vice president for the Northeast region.

Located near I-295, the Annapolis Junction location allows Penske to increase business opportunities within the Baltimore and Washington, D.C., corridor.
